PayPal Manager

Overview

With PayPal's acquisition of Verisign's Payment division in October 2005, the offerings of online account management tools from the two companies were very similar and redundant. Namely Verisign's Merchant Manager and PayPay's Merchant Tools. This project aimed to solve this problem by creating a new merchant portal that would combine the two systems.

The new product was called PayPal Manager, an application used by PayPal merchants to manage transactions, shipping, customer lists, fraud prevention, virtual terminal, customer email communications, refunds, trends, and other aspects of their businesses. PayPal Manager also features an API that connects with many popular back-office apps.

In this project, I was one of two User Interface Designers teamed with a User Researcher and a Visual Designer. We conducted up-front research with both current and potential PayPal Merchants, which I helped coordinate. I was also responsible for developing the product vision, as well as for creating site maps, user task flows, wireframes, and HTML clickthrough prototypes for the three rounds of usability testing.
